Database Design Architect

Times Internet is looking for a database design architect, who will be part of central technology team and will act as an advisor to technology teams representing various internet properties of TIL. The candidate is expected to have a very good understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL databases. He/She would be expected to advise on the correct platform to be used based on the requirements. The data store platforms include MySQL/NoSQL DBs (Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB, HBASE etc.), in-memory key value stores (Memcached, Redis etc.) and file/object storage.

Technical Qualifications:

You must have:

• B.E./B.Tech in computer science or equivalent
• Total 8-12 years of experience with 5+ years of Database Architecture experience
• 2-3 years experience in NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, HBASE) 
• Hands-on experience with distributed data and computing systems, such as Hadoop clusters and its stack (MapReduce, Pig, Hive, Sqoop etc.)
• Demonstrable experience in web application development domain
• Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Data Mart Design and implementation
• Must have experience in the design and development of the Data Access Layer in nTier SOA framework development environment
• Managed large and complex data sets within MySQL/NoSQL databases in a production environment
• Should have worked in Unix/Linux environment with Java and PHP development environments
• Knowledge of ETL techniques, tools, and best practices
• Owned and implemented schema designs for a OLTP or CMS system
• Experience in MySQL/NoSQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, debugging, optimization, monitoring, and capacity planning

It would be great if you also have:

• Prior experience of working for a web hosting company in shared as well as Virtualized and dedicated hosting environment (Apache, named based hosting, IP based hosting, SUPHP, suexec)
• Remote system administration and monitoring technology (IPMI, SNMP) experience
• Configuration management, application deployment and automation technology
• Web cluster deployment

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design databases and database applications to support products, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability.
• Scope development and implementation work based on requirements, suggest possible database solutions, identify components and tasks, provide estimates.
• Develop high-performing, scalable solutions including schema design, storage engines, indexing strategies, SQL tuning, ETL processes and Stored Procedures.
• Design interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access to the database.
• Develop data models for applications in an nTier SOA framework.
• Develop metadata tables and supporting database structures (stored procedures, views, triggers, queries).
• Develop and document Data Architectural solutions and recommendations for application projects.
• Consult with cross-enterprise applications developers and/or Domain architects on solutions and issues specific to data / information architecture.
• Develop multi-year strategies, roadmaps and plans for global enterprise data / information architecture.
• Ensure existing data/information assets are identified, stewarded, governed and leveraged across the enterprise
